The Poetics of Poetry Film update: Amongst many great comments I have had since its publication, it’s rewarding to see a detailed review in Projections by Professor Rebecca A Sheehan, and quoted a number of times by Dr Rebecca Kosick, Lecturer in Comparative Poetry and Poetics, in her long chapter in The Handbook of Intermediality (Palgrave). Thank you both so much. Also proud to say it is now doing its bit to represent poetry film at the RSA library, supporting creativity and ethical practice within the arts. I feel it is on a wonderful journey!

A big thanks to Martin Sercombe for including two of my films in the upcoming Lyrical Visions VI at the Titirangi Theatre, Auckland, New Zealand next week. This is one of those events that would be really enjoyable to attend, with reciting and music, as well as a finely honed curation. I am so sad that it is so far away. I know Martin's work well as his AI film Night is Paper (featured image) is included in the ekphrastic bilingual Poetry Book + Films publication (innovatively linked by QR code) and screening Frame to Frames : Your Eyes Follow II published by Poem Film Editions, available at Liberated Words www.liberatedwords.com or by email you can contact liberatedwordspoetryfilms@gmail.com. The first screening of all the Frame to Frame films, and my announcement of the winning film (by British artist Meriel Land) was at FOTOGENIA, Mexico City, December, 2023, with many films based on the festival painting Huapango Torero by Mexican artist Ana Segovia. My film BULL see above, also is included in the ekphrastic bilingual poetry book Frame to Frames: Your Eyes Follow II and features my daughter the performance artist XaiLA as a mime artist. Bull/Toro 5 mins Sarah Tremlett and XaiLA 2023 'Darkly comic mime cabaret provides the stage for Bull / Toro, which considers that man and bull are very similar, and respond in the same way to aggravation. An ekphrastic poetry film based on the painting Huapango Torero by Mexican artist Ana Segovia in the Italian sonnet form.' It can be viewed here https://vimeo.com/879866344 The second film he is showing is Mr Sky, an older film of mine with poem by Lucy English where I had shot the sky and the view throughout the day from a fixed frame camera, and these were made into a slot machine effect, where the different scenes rotate in parallel to the moods of a couple. It is going to be a really memorable event so I am sorry not to be in NZ! REALLY THRILLED and MUCHAS GRACIAS to HELIOS SUN for this - I am really honoured to be part of Estefania's curation. So many hugs to you xxx

This is one of my favourite events in the poetry film calendar. Now the 7th MALDITO (Damned) video poetry festival 31st/10-5/11. Very excited that Climate Change and Subjectivity film (first shown at REELpoetry) with Ian Gibbins and Mary McDonald is part of the longer submissions selection alongside the unmissable Now and Then by Pam Falkenberg and Jack Cochran. These will be shown online at ON-LINE | FILMIN. Also they are showing winners from all the years, so very proud that Selfie with Marilyn will be screened on the 31st October at the Teatro Circo de Albacete. Can't wait to see the group together and the variety from many different countries, and the creative approaches involved. I am very honoured to be part of this screening. They say: 'A collection that offers us a panoramic vision of what is happening in the world , and, what is even more significant, in the artistic field. Here we find what inspires and excites us, as well as the artistic trends that emerge in other disciplines. It is an authentic reflection of the artistic and, of course, social panorama. An opportunity to see high quality works, creations by artists from all over the world, who use various visual techniques and poetic styles to elevate this genre to the category of art.' With music, and live events, congratulations to the organisers and director Javier Garcia for bringing this exciting event together, Also . www.malditofestival.com https://liberatedwords.com/2023/10/24/maldito-videopoetry-festival-on-the-horizon-with-auspicious-dates-31st-oct-5th-nov/ MIX conference is back, and this time at The British Library in London, on the 7th of July.
