PROJECTS AND WORKSHOPS
Liberated Words
Liberated Words poetry film events (co-directors Sarah Tremlett and Lucy English) happened from 2012–2016, primarily centred on an open competition with additional events and curations. 2012 was part of MIX conference at Bath Spa University, 2013 was a one-day festival, and Reflections and Memory, 2014 a three-day festival both based at The Arnolfini Art Gallery, Bristol and in conjunction with Poetry Can. The 2014 festival also worked with Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival at the Watershed where Sarah hosted a Poetry Film and Form panel discussion and screening; Liberated Words IV, was at The Little Theatre Cinema, Bath, UK, 5 March, 2015, and Liberated Words V, at Bath Fringe Festival, Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, Bath, UK on two dates: 2nd June, Utopia / Dystopia and 9 June, Dance and Freedom, 2016.[i]

LIBERATED WORDS FESTIVALS: LIBERATED WORDS I, 17 July, 2012. Part of MIX conference, Bath Spa University, Pound Arts Centre, Corsham, UK. Sarah Tremlett founded Liberated Words poetry film events and festival with poet, novelist and Reader in Creative Writing, Lucy English. Since 2016, Sarah has been the editor of Liberated Words online www.liberatedwords.com to expand upon the subject, illuminate the avant-garde and identify new forms such as ekphrastic poetry films (based on paintings) or where they raise public awareness such as ecopoetry films.[iii]

Frame to Frames : Your Eyes Follow
Sarah launched an ekphrastic poetry film prize in 2022 entitled Frame to Frames : Your Eyes Follow (with a bilingual edition Frame to Frames : Your Eyes Follow / Cuadro a Cuadros: Tus Ojos Siguen in 2024).[iv] This edition included a bilingual, ekphrastic anthology with film synopses and artists’ details, and a QR link to the poetry films, published through Poem Film Editions.[v] After launching the event in November 2023 at FOTOGENIA Film Poetry and Divergent Narratives Festival in Mexico City, Mexico, courtesy of Director Chris Patch (Christian Pacheco) she toured the book and screening worldwide throughout 2024.[vi]

Poem Film Editions was launched by Sarah Tremlett with poet and poetry filmmaker Csilla Toldy (HU, IRE) in 2024 to publish books that crossover between poetry and film, and also Word and Image publications.
